Wheel of time should i read the prequel first
Reading order of The Wheel of Time is determined partially by personal preference. But, if one is particularly interested in learning even more about Moiraine and her relationship with Lan and the Aes Sedai, it might be a good idea to read it but not before its place in the publishing order listed above. After finishing Knife of Dreams , it really doesn't matter when New Spring is read. Some even prefer to save it for last. I have made the above declaration having read through the whole series for the second time.
Joined May 1, Messages I'd advise skipping it altogether. I started reading it after book 11 and I don't think it stacks up to the rest of the series. I found it boring and unnecessary. If you do read it, however, read it later. We should maybe ask Harriet Obtuse, By the time you get to book 11, the information in New Spring is just not fresh This is why I recommend it without saying specifically why - to avoid spoilage to those who are just starting the series, between book 4 and 5.
I have no judgment for those who did not like it, but it certainly gives back story and has a White Tower procedure that is not anywhere else.

Joined Dec 12, Messages I'm surprised by how many readers here are suggesting not to read New Spring at all. I thought it was an absolute gift that WoT fans got this before RJ passed on.
The WoT world is a fascinating place that, in my opinion, rivals Tolkien and exceeds a vast majority of worlds in recent history. The series might have gone down hill but Jordan was an absolute master in developing the setting for this series.
I don't disagree about the world that Jordan created and I'm definitely a WoT fan. However, there are simply too many books out there that I want to read to stick with a book that I find boring and which doesn't even move the story forward. I read the books in the order the author has written them. Loved Eddings books. I have read them at least several times.
I loved The Wheel of Time too. The first four books were fantastic. But the main plot slowed way down and got stuck on bit characters. I have good friends who just stopped reading because the plot stopped advancing. Then skip to book 13 and read the last three. Found your post searching for a recommended order for the last three books.

Do you put it at the beginning, where a prequel belongs? Or do you put it in publication order? The Purist - Publication Order.
