Must have minimum experience in working with ceramics. Knowledge of principles and methods of ceramic molds, pouring and firing.

Reading skills to comprehend catalogs, instructions, letters, correspondence and similar non-complex material. Writing skills to complete order forms and document time sheets. Math skills to add, subtract, multiply, divide and do simple calculations. Verbal skills to instruct participants and communicate with co-workers. Keyboarding skills to accurately enter text and or data and produce accurate letters, memos and correspondence. Skills to operate fax machine, copier and four function calculator.

Leadership skills to plan and assign work, conduct on the job training and instruct employees on new or updated techniques. Pours green ware by filling ceramic molds with pre-mixed slip by using hose attached to pouring table.

May fill by hand using measuring cup. Puts molds aside and keeps track of drying time. Pours excess slip of molds after proper setting time is complete. Attaches by hand green ware parts to complete piece. Maintains and controls quality of green ware. Recycles used slip. Loads and unloads slip. Cleans and stores molds.

Cleans pouring room and equipment. May make minor repairs to equipment. Informs ceramic coordinator of supplies needed. Keeps work area clean. Assist in ceramic room when needed by loading and unloading kilns. Issues paint, supplies and assist customers as needed. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities — Must have knowledge of how to operate ceramic equipment. Must have skills and abilities to pour green ware by filling ceramic molds with pre-mixed slip. Must be able to track drying time to know when to pour excess slip out of molds.

Must be able to make minor repairs on equipment. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds or assist in lifting up to 80 pounds. Must exercise courtesy and tact in dealing with coworkers and the general public; must be able to work independent of direct supervision.
